How Do You Deliver My Fabric ?
Fabric Sample P&P Info
Please note that sample requests are delivered free of charge Worldwide unless otherwise stated.
Fabric samples will be sent out within 48 hours.
We are happy to supply as many samples as customers want. All samples are sent via Royal Mail, this service will not be tracked or insured. Should you require a courier service please call us to arrange this.
Jumbo fabric samples will be charged accordingly, usually the size is 125cm x 20cm. You can choose the delivery service at the checkout.
Standard UK Delivery
Our standard 2-3 day delivery charge is FREE and applies to all orders received, regardless of weight or quantity and applies to deliveries made within the UK.
Since we use third party couriers to carry our goods we cannot be responsible for failure to deliver on time, delivery to an incorrect address or loss of goods in transit.
We have a next working day service charge at £39.99 for orders before 10am. This is an AM delivery service only for mainland England & Wales. For other areas please call as an additional surcharge will apply.
Customers are strongly advised to inform us at point of order if there are any special considerations to take into account when delivering goods – i.e. if an address is particularly difficult to find, if using GPS may be misleading, if a particular delivery is more convenient than another etc.
Deliveries will require a signature. Therefore if customers are only available on certain days they should advise at point of ordering which day is preferred for delivery. We can arrange for goods to be sent to a workplace, direct to an upholsterer or to a neighbour if this is required.
In all cases customers will be informed as soon as possible about potential delays. Delivery costs will not be refunded for delays caused by the courier regardless of the service selected for your order.
Goods will be shipped in one parcel up to a weight of 25kg and any order over this amount will be split into more than one parcel.
Fabric is supplied to us in rolls averaging 40-60 meters in length. Orders for a single article which exceed this may be cut from two rolls from the same batch in order to give colour continuity. If sufficient stock from the same batch is unavailable at point of order customers will be advised accordingly.
Fabric will be sent folded, if you require fabric to be on a roll price of delivery will increase.
Made To Measure Creations
Cushions are handmade to order and will be despatched within 10 working days as long as the fabric is in stock. The fabric is cut and then sewn and packaged within this time and if there is a delay we will inform you.
Should you order a Roman blind more than 140cm wide, we will send with a specialist courier to deliver so contact us before ordering as this will be an extra charge.
International Shipping
Fabrics By The Metre now ships fabrics, cushion covers and curtains throughout Europe and to the World.
Customers living outside the mainland UK (England, Wales and Scotland) can order fabric directly online and the shipping costs to their particular country will be automatically calculated and added to their basket, enabling quick and easy checkout and payment.
Please note that automatic shipping rates are only applied to bulk fabric orders up to 25 metres – clients wishing to order handmade products or fabric orders in excess of 25 metres for international shipping should contact us to discuss.
Fabric will be sent folded, if you require fabric to be on a roll price of delivery will increase.
Cushions will be sent without the fillings as this can help in reducing the delivery cost. You should be able to buy the inserts locally.
Any customs charge or duty is not included & the customer will be liable to pay. Should your item be returned back to us for any reason we will refund back minus the original delivery and charge a 30% restocking fee.
Delivery times are subject to stock availability. If you require your fabric urgent please call the office.
Express & Saturday delivery is not applicable for made to measure items.

Wholesale and Bulk Fabric Orders
For wholesale and bulk fabric orders, Fabrics By The Metre will discuss delivery details when you place your order.
Our warehouse operates Monday – Friday so customers should be aware that orders placed late on Friday may not leave until the following Monday.
We keep majority of the fabric that you see on our website in stock but there maybe times when If an item is not in stock, if this happens we will contact you and let you know an estimated time for delivery.
RETURN POLICY
Due to the nature of our business F consider each customer order to be a custom-produced order. For this reason we cannot accept returns on the basis that the customer either does not like the fabric/product, wrong shade or deems it unsuitable. The only reason we will accept a return is if the fabric/product is damaged, or we have either sent the wrong quantity or incorrect fabric.
Customers are strongly urged therefore to request samples of the fabric before ordering (usually samples are sent and delivered within 24 hours). Should customers order without first requesting a sample of the fabric then they do so at their own risk.
Check & Inspect The Fabric Before Cutting or Using
Fabrics and products must be inspected and checked before cutting. If the goods are received damaged, then they should be signed for as such and we must be advised in writing immediately, email communication is acceptable.
We may ask customers to supply a photograph showing the problem. Once we agree to a return, goods will be exchanged without delay.
No claims can be entertained or exchanges made once the material has been cut. Customers therefore should fully inspect fabric prior to processing.
Batch & Colour
Fabrics By The Metre takes all reasonable precautions to ensure batch and colour consistency and work within long accepted industry guidelines. We cannot however guarantee a perfect match from one batch to another or indeed from a sample cutting to delivered goods.
The fabrics shown on our website are an accurate representation of the actual product but we cannot be responsible for variations caused by monitor/browser settings which may influence the colour of the fabric.
Minor Weave Faults
The nature of the weaving process is such that there can be small faults present in a roll of fabric. In such cases, Fabrics By The Metre will take all reasonable steps to minimise the number of faults present and will make appropriate allowances in accordance with industry guidelines.
We cannot accept returns for reasons relating to the presence of faults.
No returns can be accepted or credited without prior agreement, therefore customers should email within 7 days of receipt of goods.
Order Cancellation
Cancellation of orders can only be accepted if the order has not been processed by Fabrics By The Metre. Customers should be aware that our aim is to process orders the same working day. Cancellations will be disallowed if goods have been cut and prepared for delivery in which case customers will be expected to pay in full for goods ordered.
Return Carriage
Customers are required to pay for the carriage of any goods being returned unless the goods were either faulty or the order was sent out in error, in which case Fabrics By The Metre will return the postage in full.
